My name is Emma, and I have been a swimming instructor for ten years, teaching swimming lessons since I was 16 years old. My passion for the water began in third grade when I started as a competitive swimmer. I am a certified Water Safety Instructor through the American Red Cross and have also trained in the SwimAmerica curriculum. I strongly advocate for water safety in and around pools. From day one of the private lessons, I emphasize the importance of independence. One of my favorite aspects of this job is building relationships with the kiddos and their parents and watching their progress. I believe that swimming adds value and enhances life for a lifetime.
An objective I have is to listen to you! Let's make sure your goals are being met through our private lessons. In so many chain swimming lessons, instructors are often restricted by what they can teach. As a dedicated swimming instructor, I will work with you on the skills you need while prioritizing individual progress. I can give you confidence that if your child falls in the water, they could make it to safety. I'm excited to help you achieve the valuable outcomes you seek, focusing on water safety and effective swimming lessons.

My day job is working at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta! I'm an Orthotist/Prosthetist - we make braces and artificial limbs for kids!

Engage in private lessons with our swimming instructor during one-on-one 30-minute sessions. These swimming lessons are designed to optimize water time for advancing skills, gaining confidence, and fostering independence, all while emphasizing the importance of water safety.

For 30-minute private lessons, 2-3 children who are at the same or similar skill level can be grouped together. The cost is per child and includes instruction from a qualified swimming instructor, focusing on essential swimming skills and water safety.

Let's have a conversation to determine how Swell Lessons can provide the best private lessons tailored to your needs, whether you're looking for a swimming instructor for yourself or for swimming lessons focused on water safety.
The availability of private lessons varies based on your needs, my schedule as a swimming instructor, and the pool time for swimming lessons.
Please reach out at any time if you cannot find an answer to your question.
On average across the country, lessons cost $1.50 per minute spent in the water. Using this information, local pricing, and my experience, I determined the cost of the lessons.
My usual recommendation is that at around six lessons, the skills being learned seem to become a habit and not an occasion. Due to this experience, I typically say six or more, however, that is just my observations. Each kiddo is different depending on starting points, comfort, goals, and personality!
I don't usually set a total number of lessons up front. We gauge need throughout lessons based on progression, availability, and goals.
An advantage of working with Swell is flexibility! We will work together to make a decision best for everyone involved. If lessons are canceled, we will simply reschedule.
Loose guidelines are as follows:
I live in the Dunwoody area. The North Atlanta area is where most of my families reside.
I am willing to serve the greater Atlanta area if needed! Please keep in mind drive time between pools can impact availability. Depending on where you are located, an additional travel fee may be added. Let’s discuss how best to work together!
With everything in life, there is a time and place! My goal is for your child to swim to the wall/dock/boat if they fall in - often in these situations, they don't have goggles on! It's important to build confidence without goggles for overall safety around water!

The lifejacket you have confidence in should be Coast-Guard approved. And remember, a lifejacket does not replace adult supervision!
I tend to not recommend life jackets that place a child in an upright position (like a Puddle Jumper). The "drowning position" is a vertical and upright posture in the water. If children rely solely on that vertical position they are comfortable in from being in these lifejackets, that puts them in a harder place to move forward in the water towards safety.
